Welcome to Hugh’s House
Here at Hugh’s House, only a stone’s throw from Temple Street Children’s Hospital in Dublin’s north inner city, we open our doors to families with little ones in hospital. We offer a home away from home for those going through a very hard time.

We stand beside families whose children are being treated in Temple Street, The Rotunda, Holles Street and The Coombe, four of the busiest and most important hospitals in the country for mothers and children.
We know well the toll it takes, emotionally and financially, when a child or newborn is very sick. A lot of the families who come to us have travelled long roads from rural Ireland and small towns. They land in the city, not knowing the place, only wanting to be near their child who needs them more than ever.

And that’s where Hugh’s House comes in.

We offer warm, safe accommodation that’s free of charge, only a short stroll from the hospitals. It’s a proper home, with private bedrooms, shared kitchens, washing facilities, quiet corners for a breather, and a lovely garden out the back. All of it is there to take a bit of the weight off, to give families the space to rest and catch their breath.

But maybe what matters most is something you can’t put a price on: the feeling of community, of dignity, of not being alone at a time when everything feels upside down.

We firmly believe no parent should be left sleeping in a car, on a chair, or be told to go home because they can’t afford a bed in Dublin. Every child deserves their family close by. And every family should feel they’re being looked after too.

We’d love for you to join us in this work. Maybe you can donate, give your time, spread the word, or organise a fundraiser. However you help, it means we can keep the lights on and the kettle warm for families who need it most.

Together, we’ll make sure that when the worst happens, families have one less thing to worry about—and one more place to call home.
